Not long ago, rumors about China Unicom will be Apple iPhone’s carrier in China is strongly doubted across the globe. But now, the truth is coming out with persuasive evidence. According to the Ministry of Information Industry, the model number of China Unicom iPhone is A1324 (A represents Apple), which can support GSM/GPRS/EDGE/WCMDA in China. iPhone A1324 is specially designed for Chinese people with the original iPhone 3G prototype.
In the first quarter of 2009, Some China Unicom insiders have announced that China Unicom will employ iPhone to popularize its WCDMA technology. But later, this news is denied by China Unicom top management in public for many times. At present, a list about iPhone A1324’s checking information is released by Ministry of Information Industry on 7th, May. It is predicted that iPhone A1324 will get Network Access License and certification from related bureau.
iPhone A1324will continue to have the same form with iPhone 3G, but there are some cons such as no front-loading camera so that it cannot support video call function. The Multi-touch screen is 3.5 inches with 480×320 pixels. A 2megapixel camera is loaded on the back of iPhone A1324. iPod is built-in to support playing video and audio. There is no clear information about WLAN (Wireless Local Area Networks), so far it is uncertain whether WLAN function will be kept or not in iPhone A1324.
The longing to have a look at iPhone A1324 may be detained for a long time since the process is too complicated. But at least, it will meet with Chinese people in mainland sooner or later.
